Use commercial controls only when the project needs them.

## Commercial controls follow the project model

Internal and external projects can use time and money differently. Collty does not force invoices into a no-billing project or hide hours from an hourly project. The project operating model determines which controls appear in tasks, analytics and commercial workflows.

## What changes

| Setting | When enabled | When off |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Time tracking | Tasks accept required or optional hours | Hour fields are removed from the workflow |
| Billing | Rates, fixed value or milestones calculate commercial context | No billable value is created |
| Invoices | Manual or automatic invoice workflows are available | Invoice UI is excluded from the project |
| Expenses | Approved project expenses can enter commercial reporting | Expenses remain outside billing |

## Team and project boundaries

> **Good to know:** Team settings provide defaults. Project records preserve the actual commercial choices used for that project, while source-team settings remain owned by their team owners.
