Arrange teams on one canvas, inspect their shared work, connect teams to projects and processes, and organize the map with named groups.

## Open the company map

1. **Choose the company:** Open Team Canvas from Company Workspace, then choose Open teams map in its header. The map shows the teams available in the selected company.
2. **Select a team:** Click or tap its object. Its connected teams, projects and processes appear on the field, with a detailed Connections list on the left and team information on the right.
3. **Enter the team:** Double-click a team to open its specialist canvas. On a phone, select the team and use Open team in its details. Use Open teams map to return to the wider company view.

> **Good to know:** Teams Map is the company-level view of teams. The specialist canvas remains the place to edit a team’s people, roles and working settings.

## Find the controls and read the connections

The tool rail opens Connections, connects teams and creates groups. Connections lists the selected team’s related teams, projects and processes; choose a row to inspect that object. Only the top-level process is shown on the field, while its relationship label explains an assignment inherited from a parent or recorded in a subprocess.

The right inspector shows the selected object, its description and recorded work. Team members can be opened from this panel to review their profiles. Collapse the inspector to make more space; opening or closing a panel preserves the map position.

| Appearance | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| Animated dashed project line | The team participates in active project work. |
| Static project line | The project is finished. |
| Faded project or process object and line | The work is inactive, in draft or paused. |
| Faded assignment line | A source-team assignment without active project participation, an inherited process assignment or work in a subprocess. Read the label in Connections for the exact relationship. |
| Static team or process line | A recorded team relationship or direct process assignment. A static line alone does not mean that a process is completed. |

> **Good to know:** Archived projects and archived operating models are omitted. If a connection is missing, check the selected company, the source assignment and your access to that work.

## Add a connection directly on the field

1. **Choose Connect teams:** Use the connection icon in the tool rail, then choose the source team. You can also select an editable team and choose Connect in its inspector.
2. **Choose the target:** Select a team on the field or choose a team, project or top-level process in Connection target. Review the proposed change in the inspector before saving.
3. **Save the intended relationship:** For a project or process, use Save connection. For another team, enter a New composition name and use Create composition.

| Target | What is saved |
| --- | --- |
| Team | A new composition containing both source teams. The original teams remain available; this is more than a decorative connection. |
| Project | The team is connected as a source team. Project managers still choose which specialists to invite. |
| Process | The team becomes the primary team for that process. Review any replacement of an existing or inherited team and the process owner in Business Architect. |

> **Good to know:** Changing relationships requires permission to edit the source team and the relevant work. A visual group does not grant access or assign anyone to a project.

## Arrange and personalize the team objects

- Drag a team object to place it where it makes sense. Pan the empty field, use the zoom controls or choose Fit map to see the current objects together.
- Open the selected team’s appearance settings to choose its Team icon and color. Use consistent colors and icons to distinguish functions such as marketing, delivery or operations.
- Team positions, icons and colors are saved to the company map. Wait for a save to finish; if saving fails, review the displayed error before leaving.
- Click the empty field to clear the selection. Selecting a different team changes the visible work and Connections list without changing the team’s underlying assignments.

## Organize a large map with groups

1. **Create a group:** Choose Group teams in the tool rail and select at least two teams on the field. Enter Group name, add a description if useful, choose Group color and use Save group.
2. **Move teams into or out of a group:** Drag a team into an expanded group frame to add it. Drag it outside the frame to remove it. Open the group header to edit its selection and settings explicitly.
3. **Move or collapse the whole group:** Drag the group by its header to move its teams together. Use the collapse control to show one compact group object, then expand it when you need its individual teams.
4. **Change or remove the grouping:** Open the group header to edit its name, description, color and selected teams. Ungroup removes the visual grouping and keeps the teams.

> **Good to know:** A group is a saved arrangement on the map. It does not merge teams or change their members. Create composition is the separate action for combining source teams.

## Use the map on a phone

Tap a team to select it and use Open team to enter its specialist canvas. Open Connections from the tool rail when you need the detailed list; choose a related object to inspect it.

Drag team objects and group headers to arrange the field. Drag empty space to pan and pinch to zoom. The same saved layout and appearance are available when you return on a larger screen.

Viewers can inspect the work available to them. Layout, appearance, groups and relationship changes require editing permission; seeing a team on the map does not automatically allow those changes.
